Public Private Health Initiative [PPHI] Overview
We are managing a “Public Private Health Initiative” (PPHI) a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) suite at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi – Araba, Lagos and also a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner at the General Hospital Marina Lagos both at their radiology department.
General Hospital, Lagos
The Computed Tomography scanner is located in the radiology department of General hospital Marina Lagos with a Siemens Somatom Emotion Duo.
During the CT scan procedure, the scanner emits x-rays, which go through the detectors. The computer uses this information to generate cross-sectional images of anatomical structures. Note that your body will not come in contact with the scanner itself, but will be lying on a narrow table, which will move through the scanner or detectors.
Each cross sectional slice gives detailed anatomic location and changes in the anatomy. The use of oral and intravenous contrast agents can enhance the details by highlighting the Gastro Intestinal Tract (filled by oral contrast) and other organs and blood vessels (filled with IV contrast).
The suite is also equipped with and automatic injector for dynamic injection of contrast medium.
